Comfort food cooked with intention
aiming for meals that feel both familiar and worth coming back for
Welcome to the rustic Goat
Blending elevated comfort food with the warmth of Alaskan hospitality, The Rustic Goat offers an inviting dining experience rooted in French and Italian culinary traditions. With a menu that balances refined simplicity and approachable favorites—and an emphasis on seasonal products—our kitchen welcomes everyone to the table. The unique design of the Rustic Goat boasts some of the better views of the Chugach Mountain range, and was designed with reclaimed timber from the historic Wards Cove Cannery in Kenai. We've preserved a bit of Alaskan history, and with it created a space designed to share good food, good company, and to celebrate the changing of the seasons.

The Grub
Our menu blends comfort and craft. You’ll find dishes inspired by French and Italian cooking, New-age American, and often Japanese or South American influence. With an emphasis around seasonal ingredients and locality when possible, we aim to provide comfort to all of our guests, and focus on simple food done well. There’s plenty for everyone—whether you’re craving something classic like a burger or nachos, or looking to wine and dine with some seafood or elk. We cook with intention, aiming for meals that feel both familiar and worth coming back for.

FRAZER BUCHANAN
EXECUTIVE CHEF
Our owner, and Executive Chef, Frazer Buchanan is only recently beginning to consider himself a local. With a culinary career of 17 years, the majority of which was spent in the lower 48 (Utah, California, and Oregon) He moved up here 4 years ago and has been diligently pouring himself into the place since then. As of June 2025, The Kaladi Brothers, with unmatched generosity - sold the restaurant to Frazer after 11 years of operating the place under their umbrella. Frazer is a self proclaimed "Avid indoorsman" and spends the majority of his time in the restaurant. His hopes are to keep the people of Anchorage well fed, and happy, while also creating a welcoming and healthy atmosphere for staff and guests alike.
JAMILAB STURM STIGALL
FRONT OF HOUSE MANAGER
Our Front of House Manager, Jamilab Sturm "Jam" (We can't pronounce it either) started working at the Rustic Goat as a hostess back in 2014, and hasn't left since. She's weathered every storm the world has offered the restaurant, and seen every high and low the place has been through. Whether or not she'd admit it, she's a defining pillar in the community, and a beacon of light and love for all of our staff. With an impeccable work ethic, and a moral compass that never strays, she is the mother hen of our motley flock. She’s met some of her best friends here, including her husband, so the appreciation and dedication Jamilab has for the restaurant, her staff, and the community is so much more meaningful to her. Jamilab has spent so much of her life here and luckily for us, the care and effort she brings to this restaurant transcends her managerial role reinforcing her as a cornerstone of our community and family.
